We represent some of the dominant castes in Gujarat. We are either blacksmiths or agriculturists and are considered to be an integral part of every society. Our surname denotes blacksmith status. We belong to the Lohar caste and are known for the quality of our carpentry and goldsmith work. In southern India, we are addressed as Viswakarmas or Viswabrahmins.
